A day in the news

Being such a hot topic in the news with gas prices so high and the enviornment a top priorty, we had mass amount of news reporters at the class to interview us. Below are a few of the websites that have some of the stories. Just copy and paste these into a new page to watch the videos...

Week 1 Progress Report

On the first five days of the class we have been learning a lot and trying to get a lot done. We have pulled out the motor and tranny, pressure washed the car, tranny and plastics that came off the car, and most importantly learned all of the supplies that we needed to complete this project. We have also been able to network like crazy and learn who to help us, who to contact for supplies, and the associations we need to become a part of. The first step is getting an EV completed after choosing the car is to pull out the motor and the tranny (which is very hard and time consuming). Here are the photos from that conversion....

What Started it all!!!!

Many people ask us why we started on the mission to convert a gas communter car to electric...

GAS PRICES was one of the first elements that made us start to look into electric cars. Then Sean won the video "Who Killed the Electric Car" from KATY which really allowed us to see that there are alternatives out there, you just have to put forth the effort to make it happen. Then upon doing internet investigation we came to a video online (see link in the box for conversion video) and realized that there is a class that we can take to do it for ourselves. SO WE ARE!!!!

The next step for us was deciding on the car that we want to do. Darlene has always wanted a VW new beetle and we thought it would make a great EV. We then searched out the class and found the one in San Diego for the summer of 2008. It fit in our schedule so we signed up to take the class. It also happened that the instructor was converting the same exact car... a 2000 VW Beetle. See pictures below.....
